How is net pay calculated in Kosovo?

A Kosovo payslip has only two deductions: the pension contribution and personal income tax. The employer withholds both from gross pay and reports them every month to the Tax Administration of Kosovo (ATK). There are no health insurance or unemployment contributions.

Pension contribution

The employee pays 5% of gross pay and the employer adds another 5%. Both go into your individual account with the Kosovo Pension Savings Trust (Trusti). The contribution has no upper cap and is deducted before income tax is worked out.

Income tax

Tax is charged on gross pay minus the pension contribution, using progressive monthly bands in force since Law No. 08/L-142 (August 2024):

These bands apply at your primary employer. If you also have a second job, the secondary employer withholds a flat 10%.

Example: 700 € gross

The employer also pays 35.00 € in pension contributions, so the full cost of this employee is 735.00 €.

Minimum wage

The minimum wage is 425 € gross from 1 January 2026 and 500 € from 1 July 2026, regardless of age. On 500 € gross, after 25.00 € pension and 18.50 € tax, you take home 456.50 €.

What the calculator does not cover

The calculation assumes your primary employer and only the mandatory 5% contribution. It does not include secondary-employer income, voluntary extra contributions to the Trust, overtime, allowances or benefits in kind.
